Alonzo Tan

My name is Alonzo Tan. I have been playing basketball my whole life and have had been blessed to have experienced many different experiences by playing this sport. I started my basketball journey through United Storm and it has helped me branch out to other places such as Thornlea Prep, University of The Philippines, Ambrose University, and currently now at Olds College. After playing at many of these different levels I am able to bring my known knowledge I have picked up from the places where I played, and apply it to our new athletes. After coaching since the age of 13 I have experience with working with athletes of all ages. I hope to be able to give these new young driven athletes a opportunity to learn more and do more to make it to the next level. I will do my best and find the best solution to help every athlete succeed in their own way no matter the circumstance.

Jhong Rapada

Basketball has been a huge part of my life growing up in the Philippines, it is second nature for me. As I got older I was given the opportunity to work and play semi-pro basketball in the Middle East, where I was able to play against some of the best. I gradually immigrated to Canada where I put down some roots and raised my family, eventually basketball found me and I continued my passion to play. My passion for playing eventually turned into coaching and fast-forward basketball continues to be an integral part of my life. This past year, I was given the opportunity to assist the women’s Olds College Broncos team gaining great experience. I continue to coach at United Storm Basketball Club in many capacities, assisting and mentoring players and coaches and running training sessions for the youth. I am excited to be part of the coaching staff at United Prep Canada. This is a special group of student-athletes who are committed to their sport, their academics and their future. I am excited to help assist in their journey to reach their potential.

Although I am young by age, I have had extensive basketball experience since the age of 7 years old till now. I have been exposed to an elite standard of basketball through United Storm that has guided my basketball journey since the beginning to where I am now. I am currently in my second year at Olds College engaging in Academics and Athletics and I hope to be an example to the youth, that hard work pays off. Being a mentor and coach at United Prep Canada gives me the opportunity to give back and share my knowledge with those who want to be better and have the passion to learn.
